Sindhu Bharathi is the latest Mainframe expert to join Sweden’s leading Mainframe solution specialist, Dynamant.

In 2020, Sindhu moved to Sweden for work.
Touching down in Stockholm, Sindhu carried a luggage filled with professional curiosity and experiences within working with Mainframe.

Having worked professionally with Mainframe for a multinational company, Sindhu was keen on bringing her knowledge to good use in bettering the Mainframe solutions that still to this day are an integral part of the majority of banking, insurance, and logistic enterprises in the world.

Modernizing legacy systems

Working with a technology that dates back more than 50 years can sound like a maintenance task – but the truth is far from it.

“I work daily with modernizing Mainframe structures and bringing up-to-date solutions to the many industries still dependent on Mainframe security and operability” Sindhu remarks

On a daily basis, Sindhu will be working with bringing modern cloud-based functionality to the complex Mainframe business structure, that many of our customers. The work aims at easing vital processes for the businesses while maintaining a critical up time and security level all around.

But Sindhu deciding pursue a career within Mainframe has previously raised questions with her peers.

“Maybe you should learn new technologies?”

One of the presumptions Sindhu has met on her professional journey has been the saying that Mainframe is an outdated technology – soon to be completely phased out.

However, when talking about the topic, Sindhu shrugs and laughs:

“I have been hearing this [claim that Mainframe is to be retired] a lot. Still, I am not running out of work to do – and I have joined a professional community, where I have a lot to learn from my skilled colleagues.”

“I value the professional growth and challenges that this area brings - modernizing legacy systems and seeing how it translates directly to business value”

A continuous stable demand and a slow decrease in available competencies surrounding Mainframe technology also testaments to the need for more experts in the future.

The real ChatGPT

Moving to a new country just prior to a global pandemic and starting a new professional life can be difficult. But for Sindhu, joining a team of experienced professionals proved to be a real help in accommodating herself with the Swedish way of life.

“I learn a lot every day from my experienced colleagues. They give good life advice. Actually, back when I came to Sweden, my colleagues used to be like a real life ChatGPT for me – they would help me with what I could wear for a job interview and with my questions to Swedish culture”, Sindhu remarks smiling.
