Senior Engineering Manager - Data & Analytics

Epico is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager – Data & Analytics on behalf of a large international organisation undergoing a major data platform transformation.

The company is currently modernising its Data & Analytics landscape and moving from a traditional EDW/Synapse setup towards a modern Databricks‑based lakehouse architecture across multiple business domains.

In this role, you will take ownership of engineering delivery across several business‑critical areas, including supply chain & planning, distribution/logistics analytics, finance analytics, and commercial/merchandising data.

You will play a key role in ensuring platform stability while driving the transition to a more scalable, engineering‑driven data platform.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach multiple data engineering teams across business domains
• Own delivery and improve predictability across cross‑functional teams
• Drive engineering standards, best practices, and ways of working
• Ensure stability of the current EDW/Synapse platform while preparing for future architecture
• Lead the transition towards a modern Databricks/lakehouse setup
• Reduce technical debt and improve scalability and performance
• Establish structure, prioritisation, and alignment across domains
• Partner closely with Product, business stakeholders, and platform teams
• Support transformation initiatives and drive adoption of modern data engineering practices

Experience & Profile

• Strong people leadership experience across multiple engineering teams
• Proven experience working within complex enterprise environments
• Experience with both:Traditional EDW/Synapse or data warehouse environments
  Modern data platforms (Databricks preferred)
  
• Experience driving large‑scale data platform transformation initiatives
• Solid understanding of data engineering principles, pipelines, and scalable architectures
• Strong stakeholder management skills across business and IT domains
• Experience working across multiple business areas such as supply chain, finance, or commercial analytics
• Able to operate in fast‑paced, high‑complexity environments

Additional

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) is a plus
• Experience integrating data from ERP systems (e.g. SAP) is beneficial
• Background in retail, consumer goods, or similar industries is an advantage
• Onshore profile, based in or able to work from Copenhagen
